"What is it they would want to call back about this day when they're old and grey?"

That's a thought that is constantly impacting each decision I make with my camera in hand. And the answer is always the same--the little details. How their children looked after they lost their tooth. The rolls on their baby's thighs. How their toddler could just barely wrap his arms around their neck. Or how their partner grounded them by a touch or glance when their kids are really living it up.

But what's beautiful about these sessions is that the emotion is genuine. It's not just a time to get pictures; the families that I work with take the time to get away from rules and routines and just have fun together.

It's not a stressful time of making sure everyone stays clean and smiles at the camera.

They are encouraged to do what brings them joy, and to do it together.
